Plastic-Free Periods was a campaign launched in 2017 by City to Sea, a Community Interest Company, to prevent plastic pollution caused by periods.
Disposable period products contain up to four plastic bags worth of plastic and some of them have been found to contain toxic chemicals like BPA, BPS and petrochemical additives.
So why not choose a solution that is both good for your body and the planet?
We can all make a small change and switch from single-use to reusable period products and there are 3 main options on the market.
Last year, Ludo started using reusable cotton pads and menstrual organic cups. She had never used tampons before but she wanted to give these organic menstrual cups a try while on holiday in Sardinia. Actually, she found them much easier to use and more comfortable than she had thought!
Women more used to tampons might prefer menstrual organic cups, perfect for travelling and long-lasting. There are also absorbent pants that look like normal underwear.
Plenty of options to start the menstrual revolution!
